Bridal Veil Falls is one of my favorite short hikes to take each year. So naturally when my girlfriend wanted to do a fairly straightforward hike, this one came to my mind instantly. Honestly we couldn’t have chosen a better day to take the walk. The weather report for the day mentioned some clouds, but it didn’t look like it would rain. So we headed out for the trailhead a little late in the morning. I’m not sure what possessed me to think it would be a good idea to arrive at such a popular hike mid-day. Just before we got onto the trail I saw several other cars circling the parking lot. Luckily I managed to squeeze into a space in a corner of the lot no on else seemed to notice.
The first stretch of trail was crowded. I was dismayed at several people that nearly shoved me off the trail in an attempt to squeeze by and move ahead. Luckily the trend didn’t continue all the way until the end. Otherwise it may have driven me a little nuts.Apart from the crowd of hikers, the trail was fairly uneventful and lived up to its usual serenity. There were a couple of difficult stream crossings, but enough logs had been laid down, allowing us to breeze through them.
Arriving at the real attraction for the day was a fantastic moment. With the recent rains and the melting mountain snow feeding it, Bridal Veil Falls was raging far more than most times that I have been here. It made for some excellent photo opportunities amidst a few moments of peace on a cloudy day. Best of all Sam loved the views and the beauty of the area.If you are feeling up to it, then Lake Serene is an excellent combo along with bridal veil falls.

The weather today was perfect for the hike to Bridal Veil Falls. With the sun out and temps above 50. The splashing from the falls felt excellent to bask in. I love this area and am always happy to visit. But, the crowds in recent years always make me apprehensive. There were a few people messing around at the top of the trail. One nearly slipped and fell at the bottom of Bridal Veil Falls. I wanted to stay and bask in the view. But, with the horseplay and children running everywhere I chose to retreat and grab a beer at Timber Monster Brewing. For a full trail description, scroll down or Click Here
